Delegations
When a person loses their ability to make decisions for themselves, someone must be appointed to deal with their financial affairs, and on occasion their health and welfare.
If the person did not make a lasting power of attorney whilst they had the ability to do so the Court will make the decision over who will be appointed. The person appointed is known as a delegate (formerly known as a curator).
We have extensive experience in managing delegations. We have one of the largest delegation departments in Jersey and our team are experts in managing delegate affairs form the very simple to the very complex. In addition, we have a panel of professionals to assist us when required, for example when we need to invest funds.
Advocate Zoe Blomfield is often asked by the Court and private individuals to act as delegate for people who have no appropriate family members to act as delegate, or for those family members who feel unable to take up the position themselves. She has also given expert evidence in this area of law and has been responsible for positive progression in this area of law.
Our team of advisers also assist private individuals who have been appointed as a delegate with advice in relation to their duties and responsibilities under the law, and with the preparation of court applications and delegation accounts.
