Oliver Richbell

Oliver is a highly experienced consultant specialising in Dispute Avoidance and Dispute Resolution primarily in the Construction sector. He advises construction companies of all sizes in all areas of construction contracts but with a particular focus on JCT contracts.  

Oliver passionately believes that assisted deal-making and collaborative engagement is a fundamental tenet of effective contract preparation and negotiation which results in construction agreements being agreed, adhered and completed.

Where issues arise, Oliver applies his wealth of knowledge to assist clients to disentangle themselves as pragmatically as possible thereby avoiding issues escalating into disputes. When Oliver is instructed on a contentious matter his principled negotiation style focuses on resolution not exacerbation and he always places the commercial interests of his clients as his most paramount objective. 

Oliver is additionally highly experienced across a broad range of commercial sectors including but not limited to data privacy, hospitality, logistics and sports.

Oliver is also regularly instructed to advise companies on negotiation strategy and Mediation as well as Dispute Avoidance and Dispute Resolution best practice.

In Oliver’s spare time he is a multi-published author, a Governor at his daughter’s school, a Trustee of a charity that supports disenfranchised children and Chair of a charity that supports disabled and disadvantaged children.

He is also a sports fan including rugby, football, tennis, cricket and golf and he describes himself as an enthusiastic but intermittent golfer. Oliver is also a self-declared history buff with a particular focus on British and European History from 1905-1945.
