Viberts has today announced that it has joined forces with The Resolution Centre to become the primary sponsor of their Peer Mediation programme until 2025.
Launched in 2021 the Peer Mediation initiative has been developed to equip young people with the skills to help others resolve a disagreement or conflict in a constructive, non-violent way.
Over 100 local primary school children have already received Peer Mediation training and this sponsorship will enable the programme to be delivered to a further 200 young people in 2022 with plans in place to take the initiative into secondary schools next year.
Children who have been through the programme say that the skills they have learnt have allowed them to successfully mediate in disagreements at school, within their families and within the wider community.
Howard Le Cornu, Director of The Resolution Centre, said: “Viberts are an excellent fit for the programme as their legal work embodies the ethos of working together to find mutually beneficial solutions. Their sponsorship will allow us to deliver the programme to more primary-age children in Jersey and to expand it into secondary schools too.”
Zoe Blomfield, Managing Partner at Viberts, said: “Viberts has a long tradition of supporting the community we live in. We are delighted to be the main sponsor for Peer Mediation as it will help young people learn the skills needed to navigate through conflict - benefitting all our futures. The programme encompasses many of the firm’s core values and we look forward to our ongoing involvement in the scheme.”
