Leading Jersey Law firm, Viberts, has announced two promotions within its Family and Corporate Law teams.
Alexandra Cohen from the firm’s Family law team has been promoted to Senior Associate and Rebecca De Freitas from the firm’s Corporate Law team to Associate.
Zoe Blomfield, Managing Partner said: “Both Alexandra and Rebecca are extremely talented lawyers who consistently demonstrate their dedication to providing expert legal advice and high levels of service to their clients. Their promotions are well deserved recognition of the positive contribution they have made to Viberts.”
Alexandra joined Viberts in 2015, qualified as an English Solicitor in 2020 and was sworn in as a Jersey Advocate in April 2023. She works on all areas of family law specialising in complex and/or high net worth divorces. She has attention to detail but also the ability to look at the bigger picture to avoid arguing over issues that do not have a significant impact on the outcome of a case.
Alexandra is recognised as a ‘Recommended Lawyer’ by the Legal 500 UK 2024 and 2023 editions. She is noted by Legal 500 as “working incredibly hard to do the best by her clients”. Alexandra always has her client’s best interests at the forefront of the work that she does.
Rebecca qualified as an English Solicitor in 2023 after joining Viberts in 2020. She was also a bursary student with Viberts having been a part of the firm since 2015 before completing her legal studies in the UK.
Rebecca is part of the Corporate team advising and assisting on both employment and corporate law matters. She advises on compromise agreements and other contentious employment matters such as unfair dismissal, constructive dismissal and discrimination claims, acting for both employers and employees. Rebecca also advises on contract terms (including restrictive covenants and confidentiality) and a wide range of employment-related documents.
Rebecca also assists the busy mergers and acquisitions team with business sales and purchases and provides advice and opinions on a variety of corporate and trust matters.
All the promotions are effective from 1 February 2024.
